Former NFL Player Says VA FF Job is 'Dream Come True'

Renard Cox played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and other leagues before exchanging his football helmet for a fire helmet with the Richmond Fire Department.

Watching the Super Bowl on Sunday will have a different meaning for one Richmond firefighter. 

Firefighter Renard Cox was signed by the Arizona Cardinals in 2000 and played in several leagues, plus a year at the Jacksonville Jaguars, before joining the Richmond Fire Department.

“I love it. I love putting this uniform on every day,” Cox told WTVR.com. “If you’ve ever been at this station when tones go off, it is a rush.”
