A Florida firefighter is used to utilizing her skills doing her job, but she also found a recent event challenging as well.
Destin Firefighter/EMT Holly Heidenreich used her bare hands to paddle 80 miles during the recent 2022 Crossing For Cystic Fibrosis challenge, WKRG reported.
She and her teammate were the only ones on a prone paddle board, and made the trip in 15 hours, 38 minutes and 41 seconds.
Heidenreich, who has served with the department for more than two years, described the overnight portion: “I think the wildest part was actually doing it, but I think the coolest was the bioluminescence at night and that was really epic to see ’cause you want to read about it and you see it, but like to actually experience it was wild. Like every time you put your hand in the water, it was like glow sticks all around you, it was super awesome to see."
