Second Woman Dies in MO Home of Fire Captain

Jan. 17, 2024
The most recent incident occurred in Fronenac over the weekend while the other in 2020 was in a nearby town.

For the second time in two years, a woman has died in a home of a fire district captain.

The most recent incident occurred this past Saturday when Dr. Sarah Kathleen Sweeney, 39, was found dead in the Fronenac home of the firefighter, according to First Alert 4.

The captain's name has not been released.

The doctor's family told reporters that they didn't know if she had any medical issues that could have led to what investigators are calling a 'sudden death.'

They also said one of their last texts to her was a warning to get away from the firefighter.

The death is under investigation by Fronenac police.

In another nearby town in 2020,  the same fire captain called 9-1-1 telling dispatchers his fiance had shot herself in the head.

The incident occurred in his home in Creve Coeur.

Grace Holland's family, especially her identical twin sister, questioned the handling of the investigation by Creve Coeur Police who ruled it a suicide.

Her family told investigative reporters they wonder if police didn't do a thorough invesigation or conduct certain tests because they knew the fire officer.

The chief stands by his officers saying they didn't cover up anything.

After the questions and concerns came to light, other agencies became involved.

The case remains open.
