Putney Fire Department has suspended its operations following a mass exodus.

The town's select board decided to take the move after the interim chief and a dozen firefighters quit, MyNBC5 reported.

In the meantime, crews from Dummerston, Westminster and Brattleboro will respond to fire and EMS calls in Putney.
