Unhappy with leadership, 10 firefighters have quit Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.

They say they'll return when their concerns are addressed, WOWK reported.

Following the resignations, the Kanawha County Commissioners issued a statement that measures are being taken to insure residents' safety is not jeoparadized.

"We have arranged for mutual aid and coverage from other departments including Dunbar, Institute, Sissonville, Nitro and West Side Fire Departments. Metro 911 is aware and will work with each of these departments for calls to the Tyler Mountain response area. The safety and wellbeing of the residents of Cross Lanes and all of those in Kanawha County is our top priority and we will work to coordinate proper coverage,” the statement read.
