Syracuse, N.Y. — A building collapsed after a possible explosion Sunday morning in Geddes, firefighters said.
Around 10:07 a.m., crews were called to Enfoque Images at 841 State Fair Blvd for a report of an explosion, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatch reports.
Firefighters found the structure had partially collapsed, but there were no signs of a fire, said Fire Chief Manny Falcone of the Lakeside Fire Department.
“We didn’t have any fire, no injuries — just some kind of implosion,” Falcone said at the scene.
Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom, Falcone said. They looked outside and saw the roof lift before caving in, he said.
Based on his experience, Falcone said the cause could be related to a gas issue, though the cause remains under investigation.
Firefighters found no hazards and no active fire, Falcone said.
Crews were working Sunday to bring in an excavator to take down the structure and make the site safe, Falcone said.
