Crews from more than a dozen fire departments worked overnight to contain a fire that burned through two buildings in downtown Stamford Friday night.
The fire broke out about 6 p.m. and the fire spread to a second building as firefighters from the area responded to the scene.
Stamford's mayor told WNYT.com that the city has offered up housing to the residents of both buildings. Both housed businesses on the first floor and multiple apartments on upper floors.
Crews moved to a defensive attack to contain the blaze before it spread using aerial ladders.
The Daily Star reported that fire departments from Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties responded.
