Dec. 11--Ten people were displaced when several buildings caught fire in Canaryville early Sunday morning, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Chicago firefighters responded to the 2-alarm fire in the 500 block of West 46th Place on the South Side about 3:45 a.m., Chicago Fire Department spokesman Sean Flynn said. The extra-alarm was called off about 4:40 a.m.
About 100 firefighters and paramedics from 32 fire department companies responded to the scene, Flynn said.
One of the buildings was vacant, Flynn said, and nobody was injured.
Flynn said it was immediately clear to the first responding firefighters that the blaze would require a second alarm.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Flynn said.
