The mother suffered serious burns trying to save the children as fire consumed the home in Cash.

Several people escaped an early morning fire that claimed the lives of three children in Cash Wednesday.

Amanda West, sister of homeowner Jennifer Jones, told local television station KATV that Jones was seriously burned trying to save a child. She was flown to a Memphis burn center for treatment.

Twin boys around 2 years old and a six-month-old girl perished in the blaze.

The landlord told officials that the family had turned off the electricity in the home because they planned to move.

The family had been burning a candle and, when one of the children awoke, West said the child saw the fire and screamed out to others.

Eleven people were in the home, Sheriff Marty Boyd told KATV.

Cash Fire Chief Morris Watkins told the television station that the Jones' previous house burned before they moved into this home.

Two firefighters were injured battling the fire, which spread to nearby woods and adjoining structure.
