Two children killed in a housefire on Saturday have been confirmed by officials as the children of a Galveston firefighter.
The fire broke out around 2:35 a.m. Saturday and took the lives of three-year-old Jade Jones and two-year-old Logan Jones.
The children’s father, Dustin Jones, was able to get out of the house and tried to rescue his two children with the help of neighbors, but were unable to due to heavy fire and smoke conditions, according to Click2Houston.
When firefighters arrived, they were able to locate the children in a back bedroom and brought them out to medical crews.
The children were transported to UTMB hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to Click2Houston.
