Springdale firefighter/paramedics assisted with life-saving measures when a worker suffered a cardiac arrest at Pierce Manufacturing.

Three members of the Springdale Fire Department jumped into action when a worker suffered a cardiac arrest while they were attending a pre-construction meeting at Pierce Manufacturing's Appleton facility in February.

Springdale Fire Chief Blake Holte, Assistant Chief Jim Vaughan and Capt. James Kehrli were part of a team who performed CPR for more than 20 minutes and used a defibrillator on Mike Lyle, Pierce’s director of manufacturing, WBAY 2 reported.

After CPR efforts and multiple shocks, the group had Lyle breathing by the time the ambulance arrived.

Springdale firefighters received an update from Lyle when he sent a video saying he was doing well, and called them “absolute heroes.”

“I think our payment is knowing that he’s doing well. He’s with his family and hopefully they’ll correct whatever that issue was that caused that ailment. He’s still a vibrant individual that still out enjoying life,” Vaughn told WBAY 2.

Both Lyle and the firefighters are looking forward to the completion of the vehicle so they can meet in person.
