A medical transport plane crashed on Navajo Nation land near a northern Arizona airport early Tuesday afternoon, claiming the four souls aboard.

The Beechcraft King Air 300 from CSI Aviation was headed to a local hospital to pick up a patient when it crashed and burned, AZFamily reported.

The names of the two pilots and two medical personnel aboard will be released once family members are notified.

Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren issued a statement after the crash:

"We honor their service, their sacrifice, and the love they showed our communities through their work. On behalf of the Navajo Nation, I extend my deepest condolences to their families, colleagues, and all who are grieving.

Our prayers are with the families of those on the plane as investigations continue. May the Creator bring comfort and strength in the days ahead for the friends and families involved.”
