Fire services globally are faced with new challenges as threat scenarios evolve. Taking place in Hanover, Germany, from June 1-6, 2026, INTERSCHUTZ—the premier global trade fair for firefighting, rescue services, and civil protection—will exhibit the extensive variety of changes in vehicles and equipment. Additionally, hardware and software are being continuously modified to satisfy increasing demands. This goal is being pursued collaboratively by researchers and manufacturers. The guiding principle is to utilize digital technologies and operate in a connected manner. The future of firefighting will be showcased at exhibition stands in the halls, in the outdoor area, and as part of the conference program.
From vehicles and their gear to firefighting technology and extinguishing agents, as well as fire station and workshop design, and educational and training concepts – all of these will be showcased by top providers. Furthermore, associations, organizations, and service providers will present their portfolios. High-level international firefighting delegations have signed up from Germany and abroad, including Singapore, Taiwan, South America, Sweden, and Denmark – with some of the longest journeys being made by guests from Australia and New Zealand. In addition to the large-scale showcasing of products and services, as well as demonstrations, lectures, and competitions, they seek to utilize INTERSCHUTZ once more as a platform for networking, essential knowledge transfer, and the cultivation of both old and new friendships across national boundaries.
“Digital technology and AI are just two of the keywords that will significantly shape INTERSCHUTZ,” says Thilo Horstmann, Head of INTERSCHUTZ at Deutsche Messe. “Manufacturers will present genuine innovations and the best solutions for fire and disaster protection. INTERSCHUTZ is and will remain the international world-leading trade fair for the sector.”
The event traditionally encompasses all aspects of preventive and defensive fire protection in the primary focus area of “Firefighting.” Rosenbauer, the global frontrunner in firefighting technology for defensive fire and disaster protection, has been a key exhibitor at INTERSCHUTZ for a long time, alongside many exhibiting companies. The Ziegler Group, a top global supplier of firefighting vehicles and equipment, will showcase its expert, cutting-edge solutions for fire suppression, emergency response, and rescue management. Magirus, the premier global supplier of aerial ladder trucks, is also gearing up for INTERSCHUTZ 2026. BMW will showcase, among other items, its cars and motorcycles that are effectively utilized by police forces, fire services, emergency physicians, and rescue services.
"Technology for Life" is Dräger's motto. Protecting other people's lives without endangering one's own health is one of the company's objectives. Modern firefighting gear from Dräger, such as personal protection equipment, is highly sought after both domestically and abroad. Additionally, S-Gard will offer premium, long-lasting protective apparel that guards against harmful substances, excessive heat, and wetness.
Volkan, a manufacturer in the areas of civil protection, firefighting, and rescue services, will be present from Türkiye, a nation that is well-represented among INTERSCHUTZ exhibitors. The company focuses on technologically advanced and specialized emergency vehicles as well as components for fire services and emergency responders. INTERSCHUTZ 2026 will also feature participation from the well-known, family-run French company Groupe DESAUTEL, which specializes in fire protection, firefighting, rescue, and safety technology. DESAUTEL is a company that provides products and services that support fire departments, rescue groups, and civil protection. It stands for comprehensive fire protection, which includes preventive, equipment, and operational readiness. At the trade show, NAFFCO (National Fire Fighting Manufacturing FZCO) will make an appearance from the United Arab Emirates.
The company is a global manufacturer and supplier of safety, firefighting, and fire protection technology, contributing both operationally and technologically, especially in the areas of civil protection, fire protection, and rescue services. As a result, NAFFCO views itself as a global provider of civil security and protection solutions, providing vehicles, protection systems, services, and knowledge from a single source, in addition to providing firefighting and rescue equipment.
The Federation of European Fire Officers hopes to unite European fire chiefs in a first-of-its-kind conference format from June 3-4, 2026, with the first FEU Leadership Conference during INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hanover. The organization anticipates that around 300 leaders from European fire and civil protection agencies, as well as those from other international partner nations, will be present. Similar to INTERSCHUTZ, the event will have the topic "Safeguarding Tomorrow" and seeks to establish a premier European strategic forum for individuals influencing the direction of civil protection and fire services in Europe.
The demand for logical, forward-thinking leadership has never been higher due to a confluence of factors, such as hybrid threats, geopolitical instability, digital vulnerabilities, extreme climate events, and growing public expectations.
In order to examine how European emergency services need to change in order to stay competent, resilient, and strategically aligned in a world that is becoming more and more disruptive, the FEU will bring together senior representatives from the European Commission, NATO, national fire and civil protection agencies, and international fire service leaders from the United States, Australia, Singapore, and other partner countries over the course of the two conference days.
