ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Nearly 300 church bells in Albuquerque rang Wednesday in remembrance of the planes that crashed one year ago.

The bells rang at the approximate times the airliners crashed into the World Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon, and into a field in Shanksville, Penn.

At 9:30 a.m., two World Trade Center beams arrived at Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque. The city of New York donated the beams to Sacred Heart Church. People will be allowed to touch the beams as well as lay mementos to honor the fallen victims from the terrorist attacks.

In Santa Fe, there was a ceremony at the plaza where parents brought their children to hear speeches of remembrance.

In Albuquerque, as a symbol of what America stands for, including freedom of religion, members of religious groups walked from the Islamic Center to take part in an interfaith commemoration.
