Humboldt No. 1 Fire Protection District (Eureka, CA) recently took delivery of a Placer Fire Equipment Type III Fire Engine.  Designed to work not only in the wildland setting,  the new engine expands the capabilities of the department in rural hard to reach areas of the Fire District.  With the smaller wheelbase and 4-wheel drive capability, the new engine is up to just about any task.  The new rig is powered by a Navistar 330 horsepower engine and Allison 3000 EVS five-speed transmission.  The apparatus comes equipped with a 1000 gpm Hale single stage pump, 500 gallon water tank, class "A" foam capability, 20 ft. three-fly extension ladder, 10 ft. Fresno ladder, extrication equipment, and a full compliment of basic life support medical gear (including an AED).
