You can help a Grand Island, NY Firefighter affected by cancer, a young man named Michael Anderson.
Mike is a very helpful and caring person who finds ways to give to others. He joined the Army National Guard after graduating from high school and during service to his country; he rose to the rank of Field Artillery expert and was deployed to Afghanistan. Mike’s giving ways were extended to his community when he joined the Grand Island Fire Company in 2006. During his short time of service there, he has already gone from lieutenant to vice-president of the fire company.
In June of 2010, Mike was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia.Treatment for this type of cancer is lengthy and costly, and is physically difficult to endure. Mike started his cancer treatments almost immediately on diagnosis and began facing physical battles every day. This in addition to the growing medical bills, are the challenges that Mike needs our help with. On Saturday, October 23, from 4 PM until 10 PM, there will be a fundraiser at the EllicottSquareBuildingto raise funds to help Mike defray costly medical expenses. At the Gala Event, there will be:
• 50/50 Raffles
• Basket Raffles
• Music
• Food
• A raffle for a new 2010 Ford Mustang or $15,000 in cash.
