MIDDLETON, Wis.
--
Middleton firefighters put out a fire at house being used to training purposes after the blaze reignited Monday night.
Firefighters were using the land in the 4500 block of Fox Bluff Lane in the town of Westport for a training exercise on Sunday. They had been conducting room burns inside a house, which is scheduled for demolition, and had checked to make sure all fires were out before leaving the scene.
However, the fire reignited just after 9 p.m. on Monday. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting five to 10 feet above the roof line of the house.
The home is on a bluff above Lake Mendota and is about a quarter-mile off the road, officials said.
"It's rather difficult to get water in to where the fire is," said Middleton Fire Chief Aaron Harris.
Fire officials said that they believe demolition crews might have been working inside the house Monday afternoon.
