A multiple-alarm fire destroyed a three-story multi-occupancy residence in Sleepy Hollow leaving up to 30 homeless.
The Sleepy Hollow Fire Department was called to the 300 block of North Washington Street for a reported fire around 8:00 p.m., Sunday night.
Within a couple of minutes of arrival, the fire had spread through the whole house, crews tried to make entry for fire control but were pushed back by the intense flames, a fire official told Bronx News 12.
Approximately 100 firefighters from 14 departments assisted, one firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated at a local hospital.
