ELYRIA, Ohio --
New concessions agreed upon by the city of Elyria and its firefighter's union is going to save 10 firefighter jobs.
The 10 firefighters were among 34 full-time city employees who were expected to lose their jobs Wednesday.
However, the city announced that it reached a tentative agreement with its firefighters. The agreement came after 12 hours of negotiations on Tuesday.
The firefighters agreed to give back bonuses, saving the city an estimated $250,000 and allowing it to not cut the positions and to keep all of its fire stations open.
The city and union officials are expected to meet next week to approve the deal.
