Video: Maryland Fire Damages Grocery Store

Firefighters from four counties battled an overnight blaze in a Jefferson grocery store early Thursday Morning.

JEFFERSON, Md. -- Firefighters from four counties battled an overnight blaze in a Jefferson grocery store early Thursday Morning.

Chief Brent Harne with the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department tells 9 NEWS NOW the fire broke out at Jefferson Market shortly after Midnight. Units arriving on scene found fire shooting through the roof of the store, located in the 3700 block of Jefferson Pike. Forty units from Frederick, Loudoun, Washington, and Montgomery counties responded to the blaze, making up a force of 80 firefighters who worked to bring the fire under control around 1:47 a.m.

Harne says Fire Marshals are on the scene investigating the cause of the fire, which consumed approximately 50 percent of the building. Officials say the dollar value of the damage is estimated at $1,000,000.

No one was injured in the blaze.
