PITTSBURGH --
A firefighter rescued a cat from a house consumed by flames in Polish Hill overnight. No residents or firefighters were injured by the fire.
Emergency crews responded to a two-alarm fire on Ridgeway Street in Polish Hill shortly after 10 p.m. Monday.
While firefighters battled the blaze, there was a partial collapse of the house. No one was injured in battling the blaze, but the homeowner's cat was feared lost.
However, a firefighter rescued the cat from the basement of the house, where it had managed to survive the inferno.
While crews battled the blaze, Bigelow Boulevard was closed momentarily from Herron Avenue to the Bloomfield Bridge Monday night.
