MIDWEST CITY, Okla. --

Rescuers saved a 2-year-old girl who had been trapped in a 15-foot hole at a construction site on Saturday.

The girl's father said he lost sight of his daughter while he was working on building a home. She fell down a pier hole that was just a foot wide.

"She was just playing around and he lost track of her and she fell down a hole, feet first," said Midwest City Fire department Maj. Kevin Wall. "It made it difficult for us to get a person down in the hole. The little girl is 2 years old and scared to death."

Firefighters lowered a rope to the girl. They were able to get loops around her arms to hoist her up.

The girl went to a hospital by ambulance as a precaution, but rescuers said she should be OK.
