A woman escaped injury when her Missouri City home exploded early Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Missouri City firefighters said the home in the 3400 block of Covey Trail Drive near Bermuda Dunes Drive exploded just after midnight.
The blast frightened neighbors and could be felt miles away.
"All of a sudden we just heard the loudest boom I've ever heard in my life," neighbor Mathew Sincerbox said. "My mom and sister started yelling for their life."
"I just heard this tremendous explosion," neighbor Judy Wyatt said. "I had no idea what it was. It blew the door open so I looked outside and it was Ann's house that had blown up."
One neighbor rushed outside and found homeowner Ann Smith standing in her back yard. Her hair was singed and she was disoriented.
Smith was rushed to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital in good condition.
Crews evacuated nearby residents because of a gas leak, which may have caused the home to explode.
