Firefighters quickly got the weapons out of the house, preventing injuries.

There were no injuries in a fire late Thursday night on Indianapolis' south side, despite the presence of firearms and ammunition inside.

The fire began at about 11:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of South East Street, just south of the Lilly Corporate Center.

After he made it out safely, the homeowner told fire crews about the guns and ammunition still inside.

Firefighters were able to recover those items without further incident. Fire officials are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
