Firefighters were pulled off the roof in the two-alarm blaze

Crews battled a two-alarm apartment fire at East 51st Street and Swope Parkway.

It broke out at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Deerbrook Apartments.

KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported that the fire started on the top floor of the apartment complex, then got into the attic and spread to other units.

Crews were worried about structural problems and pulled firefighters off the roof for fear it would collapse.

One firefighter was slightly hurt. A damage estimate has not been given.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
