Feb. 13, 2006

For the second day in a row, the engine of a fire truck burst into flames.

It happened just before 4 a.m. in Santee as fire crews were responding to a traffic accident.

They were headed eastbound on state Route 52, just west of Mast Boulevard. No one was hurt.

An engine also caught fire Sunday on the 163 Freeway. An electrical short may have been to blame.
