Traffic Jams North Carolina Responders

Feb. 10, 2006
Motorists often don't stop for emergency vehicles trying to get out of the stations' driveways.

Charlotte firefighters are running into problems with traffic outside their stations while responding to emergency calls.

Roads full of drivers are not making way for firefighters trying to get out of their station driveways.

Many fire stations are along major roadways and see the biggest problem during rush hour traffic.

Captain Greg Taylor says he's worked for the department for 22 years and says his station in University City is seeing more traffic problems.

Of the 37 stations in Charlotte, Eyewitness News has learned about half of them face challenges with traffic.

Firefighters believe the problem can be solved with drivers using common sense.
