Seven children and eight adults were displaced by a fire that damaged their Beech Grove house Saturday, 6News' Cheryl Jackson reported.
The fire at 64 S. Sixth St. was reported shortly before noon. All of the occupants left safely; no injuries were reported.
Firefighters battled the flames for nearly two hours, Jackson reported.
One of the children, Austin McDermontt, said he ran for help when he became aware of the fire.
"My brother yelled that there was a fire. I came out the door and ran straight over to (a neighboring home) and told them there was a fire," Austin said.
The burned home's residents said the fire left them without much of their clothes. They said they were asking for donations of clothing to be made to the People's Burn Foundation in the McDermontts' name.
