A firefighter was killed Saturday night in Harrison County, NewsChannel5 partner ONN reported.
"I heard someone yelling and I got up and looked out the window. I just saw the whole living room was red. I just started yelling at my husband, 'You have to get up their house is burning down,'" said neighbor Alice LaPorte.
Two people were trapped inside their burning home, the victim, firefighter Ray Ash, and his wife.
The victim's wife jumped to safety from a second-floor window.
Firefighters are now trying to deal with the loss of a friend.
"It's always tough and even tougher when it's your friend," said Fire Capt. Doug Crabtree.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
