A firefighter was injured battling a fire early Monday morning.

Bakersfield city crews arrived to fire and smoke pouring from the Bakersfield Insurance Services on H Street shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Firefighters worked quickly to keep the fire from jumping to the adjacent businesses.

Officials said it was a difficult fight as freezing temperatures and water from the hose lines created icy surfaces.

The injured firefighter was only slightly injured when he was struck by a fire engine that was backing up.

The fire caused an estimated 300,000 dollars in damage.
