An early morning fire in a business along H Street in central Bakersfield had fire crews scrambling to contain it.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 1:30 this morning to Bakersfield Insurance Services at 513 H Street to fire and smoke pouring from the building.

Fire crews worked quickly to keep the fire from jumping to adjancent businesses.

Officials say it was a difficult fight due to freezing temperatures and water from the hose lines creating icy surfaces.

A Bakersfield City firefighter was slightly injured when he was struck by a fire engine that was backing up.

Arson investigators are on scene this morning.

The fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage.
