Three Houston firefighters were injured Monday morning as they tried to extinguish a car fire, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Firefighters were called to West Gray at Waugh at about 10:15 a.m.

Officials said the blaze was put out and the firefighters had removed their protective clothing when they realized the car battery was still connected. When firefighters went to cut the cable, it sparked a flash fire.

Three firefighters suffered blister burns to their arms.

They were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. They are expected to be OK.
