WARRENTON, Ga. --

A former east Georgia firefighter and his wife are accused of burning down their home to collect the insurance money.

The state Insurance Commission office says 23-year-old Jerry Fullwood was arrested Wednesday and charged with arson, insurance fraud and making a false statement. Spokesman Glen Allen says 19-year-old Elizabeth Fullwood was charged with arson and insurance fraud in the Dec. 15 Warren County fire.

Allen says Fullwood was a firefighter in neighboring McDuffie County at the time.
