SAN ANTONIO --

A 74-year-old disabled man was killed in a mobile home fire Thursday night in south Bexar County.

The victim was identified as Juan Leal Garza, who was paralyzed from the waist down and who neighbors said got around in a wheelchair.

Neighbors told KSAT 12 News that they, along with Garza's wife, tried to rescue him from the home, but the flames were too intense.

Family members were seen running toward the home in the 21000 block of Highway 281 South as firefighters battled the blaze and tried to protect nearby homes from catching fire.

A cause of the fire is under investigation.
