Georgia Blaze Kills Two

A fire roared through a Spalding County home early Tuesday, killing two people and injuring a police officer who was trying to rescue one of the residents.

The blaze at the home in the 700 block of East Central Avenue broke out at 3 a.m. The identities of the victims were pending.

It was not clear what sparked the blaze. An unidentified officer suffered minor burns while trying to rescue an elderly woman from the fire.
