A sprinkler system is credited with helping to save a Sacramento warehouse that caught fire Wednesday evening, fire officials reported.
The blaze started just after 6 p.m. inside the building on Elder Creek Road.
The first firefighters on the scene found heavy smoke inside the building.
Fire crews called for the help to find the source of the blaze. They eventually found pallets and boxes of rubber slippers burning.
Officials said the sprinkler system held the fire in check until firefighters were able to get water hoses inside the building.
The blaze, which is still under investigation, resulted in extensive smoke and water damage.
