The fire at the 12-condo structure at the Village on Oak condominium complex at Carson and Oak Streets broke out at 1:55 Friday morning, said Torrance Fire Department Capt. Steve Deuel.

It took some 40 firefighters -- including from Torrance, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach -- some 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, he said, adding that crews had to cope with heavy fire and high heat.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, he said, adding that no evacuations were required.

It was not immediately determined if any of the 12 condos being built had been sold.

Condos at the complex previously have been advertised for $705,000.

Arson investigators were at the scene Friday morning.
