Car Blows Up After Alleged Drag Racing Accident on Long Island

    On Long Island, police believe they may have at least one of the people responsible for an alleged deadly drag race. It happened on Hempstead Turnpike at Sterling Road in Elmont.

    They may have struck a number of other cars along Hempstead Turnpike before one driver, 38-year-old Elizabeth Demaio, lost control of her vehicle and crashed. The car was badly mangled and started to burn. Several people ran into the street with fire extinguishers but the flames quickly grew too intense.
