The Horry County Competition Team, also known as Team Horry, was unable to walk away with the grand title of champion but did participate in other activities while in the city.
The team of firefighters made a trip to the local children's hospital to visit and provide support and encouragement to more than 50 children with chronic health conditions.
Visiting with the Horry County Fire Rescue members were firefighters from Winston-Salem Fire Department team.
The seven firefighters that make up Team Horry are Capt. Heath Scurfield, team captain; Lt. David Howell; firefighter-paramedics Mike Regan, Mike Medeiros, Luke Sawyer and Darrin Helkelski; and firefighter-emergency medical technician Michael Weich.
Each child they visited received a stuffed animal, coloring book or some type of gift to show support.
