TRINITY, Ala. (AP) -- A weekend fire at a mobile home in rural Morgan County killed a young couple who moved in about six months ago.

County coroner Russ Beard said the bodies of Zachary Jeffreys, 24, and his wife, Amie Jeffereys, 21, were found in the middle of the mobile home.

Trinity Fire Chief Billy Pettey said the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities said Zachary Jeffreys two children by a previous marriage, Zachary Jr., 4, and Kennedy, 3, had spent the night with relatives.

Beard said he saw toys and bicycles in the yard and feared the worst when he arrived early Sunday.

``While it's a tragedy, it's fortunate the children weren't home,'' he said.

The state Fire Marshal's office is trying to determine how the blaze started.
