Parting Shot: April 2005

Dr. Robert Grunstein, a dentist in Paterson, NJ, loves children and he loves trucks – especially fire trucks. Less than a year ago, the young dentist opened a practice and wanted to do something special for local kids. He purchased a 1973 American LaFrance pumper from a private collector and took it to a city fire apparatus repair business, where the water tank was removed and an enclosed dental lab was built, along with a retractable rear staircase. Dr. Grunstein visits city schools two mornings a week and gives students a lecture on taking care of their teeth and also provides them with a free examination. The children take home a “dental report card.” Paterson kids aren’t afraid of this dentist, but quickly line up to get inside the “Dental Rescue Unit.”
