PLUMSTED - The quick thinking and bravery of local firefighters during a fast-moving apartment fire in early July saved a Cream Ridge woman's life. The selfless heroism while in the line of duty drew accolades from officials this week, who took time to praise the firefighting team that responded that day.

It was the first time in the township since 1974 that a life had been saved during a fire. The 1974 rescue was done by firefighter Steve Lachance, who was on hand this week to honor the town's latest heroes.
