SILVERDALE, Wash. (AP) -- A 25-foot rubber ducky has been roasted into a puddle - but not to worry, the group using it to promote a charitable fund-raiser has two spares.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews were summoned to a fire Tuesday at an intersection in this Kitsap Peninsula town about 15 miles west of Seattle and quickly put out the flames, limiting damage to burnt grass and ``one melted duck,'' spokeswoman Lindsy Ingram said.

Witnesses reported seeing some young people leaving the area, Ingram said.

The inflatable duck was being used to advertise the 11th annual Great Kitsap Duck Race sponsored by the local Rotary Club on July 26. Participants pay $5 to race more normal sized rubber ducks on Dyes Inlet and the proceeds are donated to charitable causes.

Race chairman Steve Slaton said the rented duck would cost about $7,600 to replace.

Club president Robert J. Cathcart noted that there were two spares on reserve.

``The other big ducks are still alive and well and very much uncooked,'' Cathcart said.
