SPARTA, Ky. (AP) -- A former Sparta fire chief has been indicted on 25 felony charges, including forgery, theft and diversion of charitable gaming funds, state police said.

Wallace R. Patrick III, 26, was arrested Monday and was being held in the Carroll County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 11 in Boone County.

His arrest came after a two-year investigation into the disappearance of money from the volunteer fire department's funds. Commonwealth's Attorney Linda Tally-Smith said it's impossible to put a value on how much money was involved and none of it has been recovered. She declined to elaborate on details of the investigation.
