The Oakland Fire Department responded to a fire at Roosevelt Junior High School in the 1900 block of 19th Avenue around 8 p.m. Saturday, said Battalion Chief James Williams.

The department then responded to a call around 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Montera Middle School in Montclair, Williams said.

Flames damaged one portable classroom at each school, Williams said. He estimated that the cost of the combined damage at $30,000.
