MILLBROOK, Ala. (AP) -- A Millbrook woman and her 7-year-old daughter died in a fire that swept through a mobile home.
Millbrook Volunteer Fire Department Chief Larry Brown said Donna May Williams, 24, and her daughter, LaKesha Rae Williams, died in the fire about 5:34 a.m. Friday.
There were eight people in the house at the time of the fire - five adults and three children.
The blaze possibly started with sparks from an air conditioner that caught the couch on fire. But the probe into the cause was incomplete.
Lisa Williams, 26, who owns the home, said her 9-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter also were in the home and escaped.
"The house really filled up with smoke quick," Williams said.
The family lost everything, said Ruby Williams, Lisa and Donna Williams' mother.
