New Jersey Firefighters Fight 2-Alarm Blaze That Leaves Family Homeless

June 15, 2004
Off-duty Jersey City Firefighter Gary Garvin called in the fire after seeing smoke while driving on Route 440
A Jersey City family was left homeless over the weekend when a two-alarm fire ripped through their Country Village home and spread to the house next door, Fire Capt. Andrew Johnson said.

When firefighters responded to the River View Road home, the heavy smoke pouring from the two-story, wood frame building caused fire officials to immediately trigger a second alarm, Johnson said.

There were no injuries reported.
