Transformer Fire Disrupts New York Subway Service

(Manhattan-WABC, May 3, 2004) -- A transformer fire in an East Side subway tunnel briefly suspended service on the Lexington Avenue line this morning.

The smoke condition inside the station at 103rd Street and Lexington Avenue suspended service between Grand Central Terminal and East 138th Street on the Nos. 4, 5, and 6 lines. Service has since been restored.

No injuries have been reported.
