The Sparta Fire Department Board will sue a suspended firefighter who pled no contest to embezzling fire department funds.
The Board voted 6-1 Tuesday night to go ahead with the suit.
Investigators tell 24 Hour News 8 David Murdock pled no contest in December to embezzling more than $20,000. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 23, where he faces up to ten years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
The embezzlement was allegedly done by falsifying invoices, some with the logos of two businesses connected to Murdock.
