The Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Bomb Squad responded to a northeast Las Vegas neighborhood late Tuesday morning after the owner of car found a shell in the trunk of their car.

Metro and the Bomb Squad responded to the intersection of N. 30th St and Cedar Ave at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning after the owner of a car found what appeared to be some type of an explosive shell in the trunk of the car. The owner of the car called Metro, who in turned notified the Bomb Squad.

The squad arrived and found the shell portion of a small explosive ordinance in the trunk of the car, it was not dangerous.

It was determined that the owner of the car lent the car to another party on Monday night to do some moving. The shell must have been inadvertently left in the trunk when the car was returned. The car owner was not aware it was still in the trunk or its potential when it was discovered. He called authorities.

The intersection was closed for approximately thirty minutes while bomb squad technicians investigated. When it was determined it was not a threat, the squad took possession of the shell for disposal.

There were no evacuations or injuries in connection with the incident.
